Palin's publisher HarperCollins told American press that Going Rogue has proved so popular it has been forced to print an extra 300,000 books after an initial print run of 1.5m, with about 300,000 sold on 17 November – its day of publication – alone. Going Rogue is currently sitting at the top of Amazon.com?s bestseller list, ahead of Stephenie Meyer, Dan Brown and Stephen King. Palin's first-day sales are behind Bill Clinton?s, whose 2004 memoir My Life sold 400,000 in its first 24 hours, but ahead of Hillary Clinton's, whose autobiography Living History broke records when it was published in 2003, selling 200,000 copies on publication day. The figures are nonetheless a long way behind fiction sales
NewsTrust Rating: 2.5 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

New York Times - By Jim Rutenberg, Serge F. Kovaleski - Jul. 12 (News Report) - Interviews show that a seemingly relentless string of professional and personal troubles lead to Sarah Palin’s surprise resignation as governor of Alaska.

In late March, a senior official from the Republican Governors Association headed for Alaska on a secret mission. Sarah Palin was beset by such political and personal turmoil that some powerful supporters determined an intervention was needed to pull her governorship, and her national future, back from the brink.

The official, the association’s executive director, Nick Ayers, arrived with a memorandum containing firm counsel, according to several people who know its details: Make a long-term schedule and stick to it, have staff members set aside ample and inviolable family time to replenish your spirits, and build a coherent home-state agenda that creates jobs and ensures re-election.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.8 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Hallow - Jul. 12 (News Report) - Brushing aside the criticisms of pundits and politicos, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she plans to jump immediately back into the national political fray — stumping for conservative issues and even Democrats — after she prematurely vacates her elected post at month's end.

The former Republican vice-presidential nominee and heroine to much of the GOP's base said in an interview she views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and "energy independence."
NewsTrust Rating: 2.9 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Anchorage Daily News - May. 20 (News Analysis) - This means that the FEC will allow political parties to buy candidates whatever they want at whatever cost, and that the candidates and their families may keep these purchases. Despite the fact that Governor Palin and the RNC claimed the clothing would be donated to charity, it is not clear this ever happened, and in any event, according to the FEC, the law does not require it.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.9 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Associated Press - By David Bauder - Nov. 13 (News Report) - NEW YORK - MSNBC was the victim of a hoax when it reported that an adviser to John McCain had identified himself as the source of an embarrassing story about former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the network said Wednesday.
David Shuster, an anchor for the cable news network, said on air Monday that Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, had come forth and identified himself as the source of a Fox News Channel story saying Palin had mistakenly believed Africa was a country instead of a continent.

Eisenstadt identifies himself on a blog as a senior fellow at the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy. Yet neither he nor the institute exist; each is part of a hoax dreamed up by a filmmaker named Eitan Gorlin and his partner, Dan Mirvish, the New York Times reported Wednesday.

The Eisenstadt claim had mistakenly been delivered to Shuster by a producer and was used in a political discussion Monday afternoon, MSNBC said.

"The story was not properly vetted and should not have made air," said Jeremy Gaines, network spokesman. "We recognized the error almost immediately and ran a correction on air within minutes."

Gaines told the Times that someone in the network's newsroom had presumed the information solid because it was passed along in an e-mail from a colleague.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.2 average - 4 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Cooking moose chili and slicing sandwiches for Matt Lauer and Greta Van Susteren, chatting up Larry King and Wolf Blitzer, the Alaska governor is denying, deflecting and denouncing the worst her unnamed critics have thrown at her. She has called them "cruel," "mean-spirited" and "immature," renounced her designer wardrobe and insisted that she is not geographically challenged.

The Secret Service warned the Obama family in mid October that they had seen a dramatic increase in the number of threats against the Democratic candidate, coinciding with Mrs Palin's attacks.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.5 average - 4 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Stinging Talk About Obama? Never Mind Now

New York Times - By Jim Rutenberg - Nov. 08 (News Analysis) - That whole anti-American, friend-to-the-terrorists thing about President-elect Barack Obama? Never mind.

Just a few weeks ago, at the height of the campaign, Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota told Chris Matthews of MSNBC that, when it came to Mr. Obama, “I’m very concerned that he may have anti-American views.”

But there she was on Wednesday, after narrowly escaping defeat because of those comments, saying she was “extremely grateful that we have an African-American who has won this year.” Ms. Bachmann, a Republican, called Mr. Obama’s victory, which included her state, “a tremendous signal we sent.”

And it was not too long ago that Senator John McCain’s running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, accused Mr. Obama of “palling around with terrorists.”

But she took an entirely different tone on Thursday, when she chastised reporters for asking her questions about her war with some staff members in the McCain campaign at such a heady time. “Barack Obama has been elected president,” Ms. Palin said. “Let us, let us — let him — be able to kind of savor this moment, one, and not let the pettiness of maybe internal workings of the campaign erode any of the recognition of this historic moment that we’re in. And God bless Barack Obama and his beautiful family.”
NewsTrust Rating: 4.1 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

BBC News - Nov. 07 (Special Report) - The votes cast in the US presidential and congressional elections are still being counted - and in some cases, recounted. But as the dust settles, certain figures stand out.

Sixty-Two-Point-Eight:
The approximate percentage of the voting age population that voted in this election, according to calculations by Michael MacDonald of George Mason University. This equals the turnout seen in the 1964 presidential election, but does not quite match the 63.8% that turned out to vote in the 1960 election, in which John F Kennedy narrowly beat Richard Nixon.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.3 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Fox News - By Shushannah Walshe - Nov. 05 (News Report) - PHOENIX—Holding her 6-month-old baby, Trig and wearing a blue “Alaska Grown” sweatshirt, Sarah Palin walked over to a few members of her press corps to answer some final questions before heading back to Wasilla, Alaska.

Palin reflected on her brief candidacy that attracted more attention at times than the presidential candidates and drew crowds double and triple the size of John McCain. She described the campaign as “entirely positive.”

Palin demurred when asked if she will be up next in 2012 saying it was too far off to start thinking about it and that she is just “anxious” to get back to the job of Alaska’s governor.

“Oh you know it seems like so far–2012 we will be enrolling him in Kindergarten,” referring to her son whom she was holding under one arm.

Palin then pointed to seven-year-old daughter Piper who had just come back from a swim and was standing next to her mom.

“She’ll be headed to what? About 5th grade, 6th grade by then. Those are my thoughts at this point is 2012 seeming a far way off today.”
NewsTrust Rating: Not rated yet - See Info » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

McCain's verdict on Palin: more trouble than a pitbull

The Guardian - By Nicholas Watt - Nov. 05 (News Report) - So now we know what John McCain really thinks of his running mate Sarah Palin – and that's not just because of the awkward body language between them during his concession speech in Phoenix, Arizona.

An exasperated McCain has been telling friends in recent weeks that Palin is even more trouble than a pitbull.

In one joke doing the rounds, the Republican presidential candidate has been asking friends: what is the difference between Sarah Palin and a pitbull? The friendly canine eventually lets go, is the McCain punchline.

McCain's joke is a skit on Palin's most famous line after she was picked as his surprise running mate. Palin delighted the Republican base when she said the only difference between a pitbull and a hockey mom was lipstick.
NewsTrust Rating: 2.3 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Vogel - Nov. 04 (News Report) - The town of Wasilla, which bristled under the glare of intense media scrutiny in the weeks after John McCain tapped Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, seems to be buzzing in anticipation of Election Day.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.4 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Newsweek - By Suzanne Smalley - Nov. 03 (News Analysis) - Sarah Palin knows the way to the hearts of conservative Ohioans. In Lakewood, an affluent bedroom community 10 minutes from downtown Cleveland, Palin on Monday married two of her favorite attacks into one anti-Obama soliloquy that framed the Illinois senator as a creature of San Francisco--a city as hated by Republican voters for its congresswoman, Nancy Pelosi, as it is for being an overall bastion of liberalism. The crowd responded to Palin's enthusiastic attacks and promise of victory, at one point interrupting her to chant over and over, "We will win!"

Palin reminded the crowd of several hundred that San Francisco was the venue for Obama's remarks this spring that rural Americans cling to guns and religion because they are bitter. What a coincidence, then, that Obama was also in the City by the Bay when he disclosed that under a cap and trade plan he supports, polluters who disregard carbon emissions could "bankrupt" the coal industry.
NewsTrust Rating: Not rated yet - See Info » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
