Yet this whisper never has an immigrant accent. It shares my pronunciations, my cultural references, and my national anthem.
Washington Post - By Howard Kurtz - Sep. 22 (Opinion) - Maybe journalists have been asking the wrong question.

In probing why a chunk of the country seems so ticked off at Barack Obama, we've explored possible motivations ranging from racism to programmatic concern about the public option. We have examined whether Obama is trying to do too much and whether he's on TV too much.

But perhaps the sense of anger and unease is more deep-rooted than that, and not limited to Glenn Beck conservatives.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.6 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

But critics are off base when they carp about Carter and his comments. They were truthful.
Washington Post - By Eugene Robinson - Sep. 17 (Opinion) - The former president did the country a favor by bringing up race.
I think this journalist got it exactly right, and it's important to distingish between for pure racism and disageement on policy. I think those who are racist are 'bringing fuel to the fire' to the ultra-right conservatives such as Ann Coulter, who tries to be 'cute' and 'funny' about it. None of them are doing the conservatives or the Repuclican party a favor.
But I think the President is wise not be distracted by it, because then what he wants to achieve as President will be secondary and race will be the 'only issue', that will feed talk shows and political cable shows.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.2 average - 5 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

As for immigrants who are here illegally, those who go to an emergency room receive medical attention, and they should. No doctor I know, whatever his or her politics, would deny treatment to a sick person on the basis of immigration status.

Yes, it's dangerous speech that can inflame others, who are more 'silent' about their hate. Coming from a pulpit is even worse.
I do believe that most people in America like our President a lot, and his wife, the First Lady, is wonderful. She invites kids into the white house garden and plant fruits and vegetables and has made her first priority to help/assist military families.
But it's more sutle hate going on too, such as calling our President a sosialist etc.
These people who expose their hatred should be taken seriously, and one can ask oneself all speech should be 'free'.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.9 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

The Guardian - By Mehdi Hasan - Aug. 24 (Editorial) - So why are Republican politicians fanning the flames with talk of "death panels" and Nazism? Why are pundits like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh indulging in what the historian Richard Hoftstader described as the "paranoid style" in American politics? Do they really not understand that this hysterical wave of hatred and fury against Obama goes beyond healthcare reform, or party politicking, or even the country's so-called "culture wars", and now threatens the life of their elected head of state? Do they want to be held responsible, through their extreme and dishonest rhetoric and hate-filled divisiveness, for the death of America's first black president?
NewsTrust Rating: 4.4 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home. And number three – what I think we know separate and apart from this incident – is that there is a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately…" Needless to say, the next morning?s papers talked about Obama calling Cambridge police "stupid". No, this is part and parcel of a campaign by conservatives to arrogate unto themselves and/or neutralize the language of social grievance. The goal is not to persuade.
