Their proposals will not contain any changes that might distress corporate interests.

A mere 100 miles southeast of the summit, Dublin serves as a tax haven and a center of massive tax evasion for many of the wealthiest corporations.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.2 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

And if it tries, multinational corporations will be able to sue the U.S. government for the loss of anticipated future profits.

The most obvious example of these types of institutions are the multinational banks and corporations which dominate the global economy. In the first scientific study of its kind, Swiss researchers analyzed the relationship between 43,000 transnational corporations and “identified a relatively small group of companies, mainly banks, with disproportionate power over the global economy.”
NewsTrust Rating: 4.5 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Rand Paul is exploiting the NSA controversy for fundraising. On Sunday, the Republican senator and libertarian firebrand from Kentucky declared that he planned to file a class action lawsuit against the Obama administration, claiming the NSA surveillance programs that intercept internet communications (for supposedly foreign targets) and sweep up the phone records of Americans are "unconstitutional." Such a lawsuit may be tough to pull off . But—coincidentally?—it's a vehicle for Paul's prodigious fundraising. The email is full of demagogic and apocalyptic rhetoric, seemingly designed to scare people into sending their hard-earned bucks to Paul to prevent Big Brother from taking over tomorrow.
billmoyers.com - By David Sirota - Jun. 11 (News Report) - In the great American debate over education, the education and technology corporations, bankrolled politicians and activist-profiteers who collectively comprise the so-called “reform” movement base their arguments on one central premise: that America should expect public schools to produce world-class academic achievement regardless of the negative forces bearing down on a school’s particular students. In recent days, though, the faults in that premise are being exposed by unavoidable reality.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.6 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

ineteconomics.org - By Marshall Auerback - May. 31 (Speech) - The opportunity presented by the financial crisis of 2008 to reform the structures and practices that gave rise to the greatest economic downturn since the Great Depression has basically gone nowhere. In a nutshell, argues Haldane [Executive Director for Financial Stability at the Bank of England], “too big to fail” banks create no desirable advantages. In fact, these banks have become so large that they are impossible to manage, or regulate effectively as we have been “recovering.” They are inefficient as well as dangerous. They are “too big to manage,” and now even “too big to jail,” as no less a figure than U.S. Attorney-General Eric Holder recently conceded to Congress.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.8 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
