Surprised by the resounding turnout, the usual lefty talking heads on MSNBC, specifically on "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" and "The Rachel Maddow Show," explained the protests away as being fake grassroots aka AstroTurf.
NewsTrust Rating: 1.8 average - 11 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Rush Limbaugh Show - By Rush Limbaugh - Oct. 20 (News Report) - The Obama administration is gonna issue new medical marijuana policy today, which I'm frankly thankful for, folks, because we're going to need to be stoned to live through the next three-and-a-half years. Here's the White House announcement. (playing of Obama spoof)

Brand-new legal marijuana rules coming today from the Obama White House. Three pages of regulation from what I understand. Did you hear what Judd Gregg said, the Republican Senator from New Hampshire? Judd Gregg, leading fiscal mind on Capitol Hill and a-one-time Obama cabinet pick "sounded the alarm yesterday over the projected long-term financial challenges that the country faces. 'This deficit is driven by us.'" He was on CNN's State of the Union. He was asked about the federal government's $1.4 trillion operating deficit for the 2009 fiscal year. By the way, AP even has a story on this today, what is $1.4 trillion? Well, here's how they answer it. It's more than the total national debt for the first 200 years of our country. One-point-four two trillion is Obama's budget deficit. The single year budget deficit is more than the total national debt for the first 200 years of the country. It's more than the entire economy of India. It is almost as much as Canada's economy and is more than $4,700 for every man, woman, and child in the United States. It's also the federal budget deficit for 2009, more than three times the most red ink ever amassed in a single year.
NewsTrust Rating: 2.0 average - 5 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Daily Telegraph - Aug. 20 (News Report) - When Barack Obama arrives on Martha's Vineyard for his first family holiday as president, he will enjoy the sparkling sea, salty air and fresh fish and clams.

And like others he will probably be unaware of the thousands of illegal immigrants the island relies on during its summer season.
But in the recession, a small army of dishwashers, gardeners and labourers, mostly from Brazil, has created a simmering tension with some locals and amid the excitement over the impending trip of the Obamas, some islanders hope their visit will bring attention to problems with immigration.
NewsTrust Rating: 2.1 average - 7 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

"A lot of their news programming, it's really not news. You say that's hardly news? But it's been the message sounded over and over by the White House. Top Obama adviser David Axelrod said on one of the Sunday news shows, "He walked in the door, we had the worst economy since the Great Depression." In San Francisco, Obama talked of being "busy with our mop." White House heavy hitter Rahm Emanuel used the worst-economy-since-the-Depression line on a public TV news show.
NewsTrust Rating: 2.3 average - 6 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Republicans hit new low

Premiere Radio Network - By Randi Rhodes - Oct. 20 (News Report) - Well, Republicans have hit another low, and not just in terms of their behavior (more about that later!). I mean they've hit a new low in the number of Republicans.

According to a new poll, only 20 percent of people identify themselves as Republicans. So either there aren't many Republicans, or a lot of Republicans are trying to hide the fact that they're Republicans. 20 percent! The party that's been acting like a fringe party is rapidly becoming a fringe party in terms of numbers. Pretty soon there will be fewer Republicans than there are Whigs, Know Nothings, or members of the Bull Moose Party. The odd thing is that 20 percent of people say they are Republican, but only 19 percent expressed confidence in Republicans' ability to make the right decisions for America's future. That means one percent of Americans are Republicans who have no confidence in Republicans. Talk about self-esteem issues! "Yes, I am a Republican, which is too bad, because Republicans can't make the right decisions. Maybe that's why I decided to become a Republican. I can't make right decisions!"

In terms of behavior, Republicans have proven they can go as low as their own numbers. Recently Glenn Beck has been going nuts over a video of White House communications director Anita Dunn referring to a quote from Chairman Mao. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/16/white-house-vs-fox-chairman-mao/?hp It's obvious to anyone seeing the video that Dunn's reference is supposed to be ironic, but then irony is lost on Glenn Beck---along with logic and facts. Dunn uses quotes from two people whom she jokingly calls her favorite political philosophers---Mao and Mother Teresa. The audience laughs when she says it. Evidently Glenn Beck didn't hear the audience laughter in the clip. That's not surprising. After all, he seems unaware of the fact that people are laughing at him. Now Beck has installed a red phone on his studio set and demanded that Dunn call it. I don't know if the phone is connected to anything real.....but then I could say the same thing about Glenn Beck himself. Maybe Glenn Beck should think about following Chairman Mao.....literally. A nice "Long March" might help him lose some of that baby fat. Both Mao and Lenin took over their nations using a very small, but fanatical minority. You'd think they would be heroes of the Republicans. Listen to the words of Chairman Mao, and you too can seize control with only 20 percent of the population behind you!
NewsTrust Rating: 2.4 average - 10 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
