Dingell calls our bluff

So this is what he thinks: "Look, you want me to do something serious about global warming? Fine. I'll propose a cap-and-trade system accompanied by a carbon tax, since that's what will do the job. I found this to be one of the few articles I've ever seen that deals realistically, instead of idealistically, with energy and carbon policy. Nice, clear exposition, good use of quotes, good stuff.

Interesting tactic from Dingell, but given the already high gas prices, I doubt we need to go as far as a $.50 per gallon hike right away to boost alternatives. We could simply begin at, say, $.20 and spend that on promoting solar and electric car tech. Seems overly defeatist curmudgeonly attitude that offers little to make a real difference.
