In addition to the description of Mackeys attempt to influence people's views and the stock price by stating, "...at a minimum, it's bizarre and ill-advised, even if it isn't illegal, one could add underhanded, craven, unethical, furtive, etc. But never mind, he had such fun doing it. Personally, I never shop at Whole Foods. Not only is its merchandise overly pretentious, it requires serious money to purchase anything.
Seems like a hit-piece on Mackey. Clearly, he was wrong to do this, but how much influence over a stock does one anonymous commenter have? This frankly seems like an attempt at character assassination of the natural foods movement by a rightist paper.
Surprising tidbit emerges from the Whole Foods/Wild Oats merger proceedings. Well sourced story, told fairly and with a noted lack of sensationalism.
This information makes me not want to shop at Whole Foods. I don't like how their CEO does business. It's sneaky. The story itself seems fairly one-sided... trying to own-up to what the CEO did, whiel at the same time rah-rah-cheer him. I do not like this guy. I do not like what he did...reminds me of republican tactics.
