Michael Gordon trains his stenographer weapons on Iran

The Bush administration's most reliable pro-surge "reporter," Michael Gordon of The New York Times, this morning filed an article -- headlined: "U.S. Ties Iranians to Iraq Attack That Killed G.I.'s" -- that might be the most war-fueling article yet with regard to Iran. "Keepin' 'em honest" is as much about reporters as it is about the people that reporters quote. In view of the Judith Miller debacle from the same paper, this piece raises red flags. One hopes the reportage was not as slipshod and source-serving as the blog suggests, but the reported changes to the story -- after it was first published and unloosed on the public -- are hardly reasons to give the Times the benefit of all doubt.

If you read through the entirety of this blog post you will notice something extraordinary. The NYT changed the story! We need more Glenn Greenwald's holding the media's feet to the fire. Bravo! Excellent journalism.

Glenn's critique of Michael Gordon is clear and, if the subsequent alterations by the NYT are any indication, accurate. One would have thought that drumming up a war wouldn't work so many times in a row...
