Bush Claims Executive Privilege on Subpoenas

The White House invoked executive privilege yesterday in withholding subpoenaed documents on fired U.S. attorneys out of confidence that it can prevail in court and weather a political storm by blaming Congress for overreaching, administration officials said.

The country's most overreaching president ever wants to blame Congress for overreaching? The president does not have a prerogative to corrupt his constitutional duties. If prosecutor firings were part of a conspiracy to cage voters and destroy democracy, it seems there might be justification for digging in Cheney's pampers. The article tends to over-echo administration talking points.
