This was a great article. The author of this article even has to disagree with his political party (Republicans) on the issue of same sex marriage. This is a powerful article because it goes beyond the normal means on same sex marriage. Something that really caught my eye was the paragraph starting with "Freedom is our most cherished political legacy". Summary: The writer gives his opinion on how opposing gay marriage differs from the core belief of republicans. Whats New:The writer presents a point of view that Republicans have always fought their should be freedom for all and fighting gay marriage goes against this belief. Balance: The article is an opinion piece and therefor is very one sided as there are no quotes, differing opinions or even an opposing point of view. Transparency: The writer is the the author of "A Fundamental Freedom: Why Republicans, Conservatives and Libertarians Should Support Gay Rights" (Rowman & Littlefield, 2012).

Since Question 6 affects our family I feel that it's very very important. My son and wife will have the same legal protections that our married friends have. The fact that this is written by a Republican who supports Question 6 blows my mind. I feel it was very well written, and it makes me look at the Republican's a bit differently.
