American soldiers think our press is bad to them, but we get off light compared to the Brits. One British soldier told me that when he made a journey of several hours across London, in uniform, not a single person acknowledged him. 1. What does bad press have to do with strangers not acknowledging soldiers? 2. London being a huge city like New York, I can't imagine people acknowledging any stranger, military or not. 3. How do you go about acknowledging a soldier's duty in Iraq if you don't know whether he or she has ever been there? Do civilians have to start memorizing the meanings of patches and ribbons? 4.
