Forty-six percent of Americans believe in the creationist view that God created humans in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years. An outstanding report by Frank Newport based on the results of a Gallup survey published in Gallup Politics. Gallup has asked Americans to choose among these three explanations for the origin and development of human beings 11 times since 1982, and the creationist view (God created humans in present form) increased 2%, theistic view (humans evolved with God's guiding) decreased 6% and the secular view (Humans evolved but God had no part in process) increased 6%. Notably, the most religious Americans are most likely to be creationists, majority of Republicans are creationists, and those with postgraduate education least likely to believe in creationist explanation.
