Read this story with attention to story structure and the author's choices in quotes, examples and use of data. What did you notice that you will apply to your own enterprise story? This enterprise piece started off with a lede that set the setting. The real hook came after the setting was explained, the author threw in the presence of the U.S. border patrol, which certainly did not fit. After another paragraph that went through the border patrol's functions, and then the nut graf, which put forth the controversy and the true point of the article. From there, the author used both examples of actions that were controversial as well as more background about the area, and the context in which immigrants lived their lives ... More »
