Solar power is great source of renewable energy and should be incorporated more in society. Oil, which is what most people currently use to power their homes, is not a renewable resource. This means that as soon as the oil is gone, it is gone forever and we will no longer have power or energy. Im glad that this ship was made to promote the simple energy of the sun. Great article.

The blog is part of the New York Times "Green: A blog about energy and the Environment", which places the information in relevance to society and science.
The story relates to science technology and society because the story revolves around the Turanor PlanetSolar ship which is a boat that runs on solar power which is both a scientific and technological advance. When writing about current events that are in the process, like the solar powered boat, it is nice to give background of the story and the up to date information of when the next big event will be happening. This story does a good job of informing you enough to care about the information and get you excited about an accomplishment that is about to happen.

There's nothing like a good story on developing green technology. Green technology is among some of the most popular, topical and important. The story does a good job of visualizing the story with the futuristic picture of Domjan's completely solar powered boat. It's something that is important because it could be the next step in enhancing solar power. And is just interesting to see the technology adapt.
