PolitiFact may have won a Pulitzer, but not for this article. After giving all explanations either a “pants on fire” or “false” rating and giving speculation-caused a “half true”, the articles wanders confusingly hither and yon. Meaning: while no one admits knowing the real cause of gas prices–and it isn’t that chestnut about the end of oil as we know it which right wingers continue to spew–PolitiFact finally gets to the real cause of the oil crisis in the last paragraph. The same reason for the global depression: GREED.
The upshot: we’re being gouged and duped at the same time. And while it would be hard to give up our cars, we can at least tune out the dubious sound bites. More »
