The intended target in an ambush never knows when it's over. Yesterday's ambush, which killed two soldiers and wounded three others, is a case in point. The piece provides some inside views of life and death as soldiers in the Iraq occupation. In this war, "glory" seems a slightly uninformed word for the title. It has the voyeurism of war without showing the negative effects.

Michael Yon is a veteran of the US SOF and gives the sensitive, insider's perspective on exactly what is happening and why. Most journalists tell the story as an outsider, missing significant detail and frequently giving false information, through ignorance or bias.
