This opinion offers an insightful retrospective on how the "fear of the other" has led the Republican movement to lose touch with reality over the years. One of Matt Taibbi's best rants yet, IMHO. (He sometimes goes to far for my taste, but in this case, I think he's hit the nail on the head.)

Wow! And I thought I was a pissed off Liberal! {Sorry, Progressive. Liberals are terrorists.} Although some would consider it a bit beyond the pale {not me, Coach} Matt Taibbiti really hits a hole in one with this article. He makes two cogent points: 1) in their zeal to score big points with the radical right, every one of the “presidential” candidates has oozed back into the corruptly rotten right wing woodwork; 2) win or lose, the Republican brand has become a deserved anathema, which will take generations to resolve, unless it ends up on the dung heap of history first.
