Finally! Obama lays out the straight skinny about how right wingers have destroyed this country. And all it took was an upcoming presidential election in which the right-wing owned media continue to bore us with over-reporting everyone of the current crop of Republican “candidates”. Reich’s technique is a good one: introducing each selected quote from the speech, then presenting the quote, and finishing with a quick critique.
But there’s far more to the speech. Read it in full. It lays out the basis for what could be the platform Obama will run on in 2012 — increasing taxes on the rich, investing in the rest us, requiring corporations and Wall Street banks that reap benefits from being in America create good jobs for Americans, and protecting our democracy from being corrupted by money — a new New Nationalism.
The best speech of Obama’s presidency. And the strongest. Variations of which he should continue to press throughout the campaign. Even harder. The fawning media’s nonstop, over the top coverage illustrates an important point: Never has there been a larger collection of 32-carat morons running for president. What continues to amaze me is Americans actually put up with this idiotic crap, instead of being outraged about what is being foisted on them. Have we become so intellectually deprived?
