In order for it to have impact, it must be further clarified, or else it will be misinterpreted by politicians pushing ideas which they will falsely claim would tax the rich - such as Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain's phony 9-9-9 plan, or even Obama's "millionaires' tax."

Here we have some very specific proposals for increasing tax revenue. Although I don't agree with #8 and #12 and have some reservations about #4, I find the overall presentation commendable.
re #8 I don't like VAT taxes for various reasons, including the hidden nature of the final cost of the product. #12 I don't believe we need to increase the Medicare payroll tax. What we need is more oversight over the excessive and fraudulent billing by medical institutions. #4 Stock trading needs massive reform but a tax on transactions should exclude small investors and innovative growth companies(according to capitalization).
