The author chooses the one metric that seems to support his cause and discredit the other side. This is a misuse of statistical information ignoring the lives lost (military, support, Iraqi, etc), the injuries, the monetary cost and the cost to our nation's reputation in the world as a result of the Iraq war. This is not journalism - it is propaganda.

This is factoid journalism. He uses the death rate of soldiers in Iraq and contrasts it with the death rate for other wars. While interesting it does not tell much of a story except to highlight that in terms of lives lost this war is far less costly to the US than previous wars. In general this is a weak story. Oh. My. GOD. They are comparing WWII soldiers dying of old age to soldiers killed in Iraq. It's possible Gateway Pundit is too stupid to even realize that's what he's done, his figures have been linked to links to links to maybe-Rush-Limbaugh-said-it so many times. Republicans: lying -- or stupid?
