The polished brass hats, shiny trumpets and 21-gun salute that marked the investiture of Nicolas Sarkozy as president in place of Jacques Chirac on May 16th were all part of the traditional ceremonial pomp at the Elysée. Perhaps he only ran on fear and divisiveness in order to get the Front National vote. Interestingly, this is the exact opposite of the strategy of those in the White House today who ran on uniting, but spend their time dividing. Could have said more about the newly-created post of State Secretary of Sustainable Development for Juppe. Wish we had one of those. This article is positively exciting! I would love to be French, living there and experiencing things to come and enjoying President Sarkozy's outlook on the future of France which, hopefully, will materialize. The new president is a no-nonsense and courageous man. The variety of people he is bringing into his government are an inspiration.
