As Gov. Rick Perry of Texas was assailed by some rivals for the Republican presidential nomination at Monday night's debate for his misleading claims on Social Security, he also seemed to be debating himself at times.

Good series of fact-checks about the recent Tea Party debate by republican candidates. This New York Times blog post includes near-live fact-checks from seven different journalists, including writers from the Texas Tribune. Their notes are generally factual and fair, but lack the depth of a full report from PolitiFact or FactCheck.org. However, some of these fact-checks were posted as the debate went on, which is a feat in itself.
