“The Nation” has its moments. Some good; some not so good. This time, great fun. (Lots of fun in NewsTrust this week.) While the article goes far to describe liberal dread and loathing about the latest entry into an overcrowded right wing presidential candidate lineup, it ends up damning Perry with faint praise–to put it mildly.

Perry is the double-dyed personification of the screaming right-wing Bogeyman machine. Complete with cowboy boots, scary rhetoric, and twangie accent. (“Boo! Perry will get you if you don’t watch out!”) Although he may represent liberals’ worst nightmare. It’s a nightmare full of buffoons.

It is all so reminiscent of another wrong-way-Corrigan president. Intellectually, it is easy to remember the Texas-sized enmities that divide the Bushies and Perry. But ... More »
