Although the US appears to be increasing diplomatic pressure on Honduras, questions are being raised about its vow to cut military ties. The National Catholic Reporter has revealed at least two Honduran army officers are still receiving military training in the United States. A majority of the media seem to conveniently omit that Zelaya violated Honduras' constitution. According to all of the branches of their government (save himself, the President), he was acting illegally and against the constitution. The constitution prohibits a President or VP from serving more than one term and SPECIFICALLY says that ANY politician who even speaks about amending the 1-term limit provision will be subject to immediate dismissal from his/her position and will be banned from all offices for 10 years.
