The Senate debated Tuesday whether to spend $1.75 billion on seven additional F-22 jets, a decision that pits the possible loss of thousands of defense jobs against Obama administration assertions that the Pentagon has enough of the fighters and the program should be terminated. A bit of interesting info on the split vote. More detail on the corporate contributors to the democrats who voted for the unnecessary planes would fill out the picture.

This is a good start. Can we get an exit date from Afghanistan?

The F=22 will join a multitude of other strike systems that outlived their intended purpose, at least in this instance the system procurement was stopped.

The Post provides the Obama party line context that F-22s were a Soviet relic. Missing is the crucial context that the billions for the F-22 is merely a drop in the Pentagon's budget, and, according to the New York Times, 2,400 F-35s are on their way anyway. That's right. 2,400. So why was this vote so important? Because Obama said so.
