CNN's John King interviews Arnie Gundersen about the Hot Particles discovered in Japan and the US.

(Video) Now what we're finding are hot particles....In Tokyo there are about 10 hot particles per day in what a normal person would breath...In Seattle it doesn't go down that much; it is about 5 hot particles per day. A highly informative interview with nuclear engineer Arnold "Arnie" Gundersen, chief engineer of energy consulting company Fairewinds Associates and a former nuclear power industry executive. Independent testing has revealed that minute hot fuel particles (so-called "nuclear fleas") from the nuclear fuel meltdowns at Fukushima's Reactors 1-3 are being breathed in by residents of Tokyo in significant quantities. Surprisingly, residents of the West Coast are also breathing in these particles in quantities not much reduced by distance. The breathing in, or the ingestion, of hot fuel particles, can result in severe long-term health consequences.

Gundersen describes the specifics of Fukushima's Reactors 1-4 in the attached links dating from June 3, 2011. Most of us will be surprised to learn the extent of the danger and how little it has abated during the past two months. Many practical suggestions on how to reduce one's exposure.
