House GOP to Democrats: Stop Telling the Public About Our Unpopular Agenda

Yesterday, they gathered to deliver a message to Democrats: Stop making us look bad by telling the public about our agenda. Full Story »

This opinion piece has no obvious journalistic content. It is a public relations piece for the Democrats, totally ignoring the facts. The Democrats are indeed trying their usual MediScare tactics, not noting that the GOP plan does not cut Medicare, ever. It converts the program only for those under age 55 into a direct insurance payment, rather than reimbursing for everything piecemeal. The articles fails to note that support for Republicans by seniors has not dropped, despite the Democrat's tactics.

The author forgets that Republicans had quite friendly audiences at their town halls in April, despite obvious astroturfing by the Democrats (as Paul Ryan genially dealt with). Indeed the town halls were so much fun for the Republicans that they generated the April joke of the month: "Paul Krugman". David Letterman would die for the high-decibel laughter this joke generated!
