The story is well-written, and it uses on- and off-the-record statements to portray these characters pretty clearly, but it doesn't go all the way with the context. This story ties into issues that are bigger than this series of events in this city, but it treats these as somewhat isolated incidents.

Good treatment of emotionally charged issues regarding racial tension & law enforcement in Miami, though it left me wanting more, as though something is missing & I can't quite put my finger on it.

I thought this was relatively good journalism. It was well-written, well-sourced, and very factual. It is very relevant to the Miami area, but not the rest of the country. Also, I don't think it was very fair. The entire article was talking about the negatives. Granted, what the officers are doing is negative, but what I'm saying is that the article never gives the other side to the story. They could have interviewed a resident of the community who is non-biased, and see what they thought. I just felt like the journalist was focusing solely on how everyone was upset about the actions of the police department...we never got the chance to see if anyone supported it.

It is a well-written article and it comes from a well-known and respected publication. It is an important topic because it deals with the safety and racial issues. It isn't totally relevant to the major things going on in the world; however, it does relate in the sense that there are shootings and death in local communities that people may not be aware of.
