Krugman does not need campaign contributions, so he can speak honestly about the banksters thieving from the middle class.

The author says that the banks are profiting from this sorry state of affairs. He is wrong. The banks are profiteering from it. The sooner these charlatans are tied up in strict legislation and the worst of them put in jail, the better. America's power is rooted in the huge energy liberated in an egalitarian society. This is an under covered issue and Krugman has great credibility and has offered good examples on what is happening. People need to be reminded that there was a great book in 1989 called "Inside Job - The Looting of America's Savings & Loans" by Stephen Pizzo, Mary Fricker and Paul Muolo about another financial crisis that hurt many people and made some others very rich.
