For 6 years, the Bush Administration has had one overriding moral value--corporate greed. It didn't matter who was hurt, as long as big corporations continued to rack up record profits. But they've finally hurt somebody the public and the politicians are willing to stand up for--military veterans. Arnold Schwarznegger tried to take on two popular groups--nurses and teachers--in his disasterous 2005 California special election. Now the Bush administration is feeling a similar pain after they tried to cut corners on care for a very popular group, wounded service personnel. What this article points out is that it's a bigger problem than what we're seeing on the nightly news. It also leads to the important question, if privatization has been this disasterous for the military, can it be just as bad for other government functions?
