the story describes what is known or believed happened in a violent mortal conflict between muslims and christians in cairo. some background is given of other recent conflicts. i wish more had been offered about the weapons and why they are being used in the public arenas of this would-be new democracy, where these conflicts are known to become violent.

did the new prime minister also offer to protect, in addition to his statement of non-discrimination? clearly there are many questions which the citizens will have to confront and make decisions about if they want real change. i hope they will be able to do this in a way to bring about their best self-nterests
