Al Jazeera has uncovered evidence that Taliban fighters are now in effective control of large parts of a key province in southwest Afghanistan, despite recent claims by Nato that their bases had been destroyed.

Uh-oh. This isn't the story we've been told in Western media. Some will call this story propaganda; the fact is that the best propaganda is truth. To a certain extent Western journalists -- like the military -- hold the major towns in Afghanistan and Iraq. Though he does a good job of disclosing that he was essentially 'imbedded' with the Taliban, I still think that it constitutes bad journalism that a NATO or British voice was not presented to bring their perspective on the matter. Qualifying a source's reliability is not enough- good journalist should include other perspectives as well.

Taliban in control of a town in Afghanistan, British troops cloistered in safe house, no western coverage.....all sounds very real.
