The subtitle, "moderate democrat is new target of liberal bloggers," indicates a skewed perspective. I am wary of the labels, liberal, conservative, and most especially, centrist. In a time when conservatives not only hold office but are in the judiciary, the center has moved to the right. So, this story and one's opinion of Tauscher, will mean something different to those with conservative or liberal viewpoints. The story tells readers there is a quarrel but doesn't address what underlies the discussion. Beneath the attempt to label someone is the question of whether we vote for a candidate to act according to his/her conscience or to vote according to plls or the number of letters received from a particular constituency. Most noteable is the dislike of Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi has power she's worked for for years yet because she is linked to San Francisco rather than to the entire area, there's a presumption of snippiness and radicalism that is simply untrue.
