Philip Perry and the politics of chemical security.

This story gives alot of pertinent facts and background information. Does anyone else feel the irony of this man being described as a "family man?" Does anyone else think Perry and Cheney and others like them show a real disconnect between showing loyalty to the money stockpiled by their blood-tie families, while intentionally betraying the trust of the rest of the family of humanity? Withholding support for developing "Inherently Safer Technologies" for chemical plants because it would make businesses become liable and responsible for their actions, actions which pose the threat of harm to millions of people? And the justification is - more profits for a toxic, dysfunctional sector of big business. If a "family man" is someone who provides money to his blood family, while at the same time making sure the rest of us inhabit an increasingly hostile and toxic environment, then yes, I agree - Phil Perry is a family kind of guy. One aspect the story does not touch upon that I wish I could understand more about is the reasoning people like Mr. Perry and his followers employ to justify their own greed and selfishness. They thrive on creating enemies and stirring up bad feelings while partitioning off their sacrosanct "friends and family Insider's Club". Good luck to Mrs. Phil Perry and baby #5 - how comforting it must be for Them to know they rest safe in the nest of such a powerful protector, while the rest of us live in the frightening shadow of their control and their secrets.
