As with so many similar rantings, the story is predicated upon an incorrect fact. (While writers in this genre would claim "upon a lie" in a smilar analysis I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt.) From the disinformation in the lede graf, with its reference to a rebel leader who was not arrested, injured or apparently even near the scene of action, the piece goes downhill. This writer does 'opinion,' parroting neocon talking points like Jeff Jacoby at the Boston Globe. Straight out of American Enterprise Institute, they deviate not a bit from their counterparts elsewhere. They think they are funnier than they are--but to the political "gotcha" crowd, well, they probably love this half baked stuff that usually evaporates from political discourse. Nothing original here.

This article could have been mildly entertaining humor, right up to the point that the author made the mistake of taking himself seriously and implying the failure in the Iraq War is the Democrats' fault. Amazing that this author has forgotten why Democrats are in power in Washington in the first place. Even more amazing that the editors of the Chicago Sun-Times published such a weak story, though.
