There is no such thing as a “climate denier.” There are “global warming skeptics,” and some of us support a more nuanced point of view—that human activity is but a minor contributor to the many other natural factors that affect climate change.

Mr Cox, Thanks for making this point. It is essential to make the distinction clear in order to understand the public debate on the issue. Accomplished atmospheric scientists such as Richard Lindzen of MIT and Roy Spencer of Alabama-Huntsville are not “deniers” but claim that our understanding of climate is very incomplete, too incomplete to make claims that go beyond the science.

I’ll agree that “global warming skeptic” is a better term, but is “climate change skeptic” even better? Personally I am hoping that human activity can affect our climate, because if we can’t, then long term I would say we are going to see some ugly population changes.
