The article provides interesting insight into the kind of insanity that obsessed the Arizona murderer, based upon an interview with one of his former best friends.

Since mental institutions were closed under Reagan, mental health care was given junk staus, controls on gun sales were neutered, and civil politics were abandoned and replaced by the polemics of demonization expressed incessantly by Fox and friends in the words of warfare, it comes to this. Fools and the insane are given the atmosphere and the tools to destroy what is best in our society, having been enabled and encouraged by wealthy owners of the congress and the worst in the media.
