I recall reading a similar article about e-books in the '90's - and as the article points out, this didn't take off. Since then, electronic media has come so far, it seems such a personal reader only makes sense.

this is a good overview of the strategy and direction. It has a decent number of people talking from various publications. There is no real reader/user reaction which is something of a weakness and the article doesn't dwell on the issues of advertising which remain difficult to resolve on large-screen color displays.

Interesting assessment of the inroads e-readers are making in the newspaper business. There's an inattention to a fundamental question of whether readers will choose to use an e-reader over print, but otherwise covers important questions and angles.

Interesting topic, but the article doesn't address many of the issues that have impeded adoption of e-readers, including cost, weight, and the fact that you don't much care if you lose your copy of the Sunday Times -- you can buy another one for less than $5. Leave your e-reader on the train, however, and you're out a few hundred.
