What none of the stories have the guts to say is that even Christians stray from the beliefs they profess. That folks who have, or are afraid they might, are often the most unforgiving of others. And that's one of the problems with theocracy. As we saw with prohibition, legislating morality really doesn't work. Fairly reported. Written with the Time's customary insistence on broad "cosmic" overview, which may or may not be fully supported further down in the copy.
It's obvious that the Times is off its beat and is relying on the reporting of others to guide it. Reads like a second-day story. Not particularly distinguished or ground breaking.
