Water is probably the most visible of our resources that we are running out of. China and India are mining their underground water, The Middle East could erupt any time over scarce water and even some very rainy countries are realizing there are limits both in quality and quantity. Worse still, water use is increasing faster than population due to increased aspirations. A necessary but not sufficient condition for turning this around is to stop and then reverse population growth. Europe has demonstrated that it happens automatically with a sufficient level of development. Well they are wrong. It happened becaues contraception became affordable as a result of economic development. You don't have to wait for development and are much more likely to achieve it if contraception is made affordable before development occurs. Not rocket science.
