The article was a very brief overview of a complex problem.

Nations don't have friends, they have interests. What are our interests in Ukraine and Georgia? Do these interests justify the risks?

Very fine summary of the reasons Ukraine should not be admitted to NATO. The author underscores the insane level of US "defense" spending that severely injures the US economy which must compete with other countries not hampered by the colossal millstone.
