As has frequently been the case in recent months, an increase in the energy index was the major factor in the all items seasonally adjusted increase.

Per the article (& decades of calculating the CPI) energy is a key factor in calculating the CPI (& PPI). Mr. Beck ignores this and simply focus on the “index for all items LESS food and energy” … a separately reported adujusted price index. As these two comments appear withing two sentences of each other, it appears that Mr. Beck and his cohorts have a conveniently small input queue that retains only that which coincides with prevously determined conclusions.
