This piece is useful in making the reader think about the position the Somalians are in, and may even bring up legitimate points about the abuse of Somalian natural resources on the part of the Europeans. However, it is not responsibly reported. Only one UN official is cited about the nuclear dumping, and in that case no connection to Europeans is made. Moreover, a connection between these pirates and the volunteer "coast guard" is not made.

This is a good pushback against ignorance. The dumping of nuclear waste and depleting of fish stocks launched the coast guard/pirates, who then expanded their charter. The story alerts to the moral imperative to stop the dumping and fishery theft as a corollary to any attacks upon the pirates.
