Knee jerk war lovers hear of pirates and want to invade Somalia, without hearing about the plight of the people who have turned to piracy. Goodman provides the story of the Somalis and how their waters have been fished by thieves and polluted by environmental criminals from more developed countries who not only fail to act, but now harass legitimate Somali activities on the oceans, which protects the foreign thieves.

Environmental destruction and depleting the oceans of fish is shown here to have costs, costs which are usually ignored when focused on short term profits of fishing or waste disposal. War is not the answer.
