How we can save newspapers

A recent study in The Journal of Law, Economics and Organisation found that one of the biggest single factors in reducing corruption in a country is "the free circulation of daily newspapers per person." Mostly an accurate description of the state of the industry--which has been told before--Hari does make some good points about the importance of journalism. And, at the very end, includes a few ideas that have been tried to save the newspaper. Without more information on how they worked, they can hardly be evaluated as serious proposals.

A classic one one simple answer to a very complex problem. A real reporter would have done better research and provided more insight. Something as simple as going to the production floor. In modern times the cover price has not even covered the cost of paper, let alone the ink and labor to produce the product.
