Neighbor: Fort Hood suspect emptied his apartment

An Army psychiatrist suspected of opening fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood cleaned out his apartment in the days before the rampage that left 13 people dead, a neighbor said Friday.

The neighbor, Patricia Villa, said Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan came over to her apartment Wednesday and Thursday and offered her some items, including a new Quran, saying he was going to be deployed on Friday. Full Story »

there are a number of unnamed, as well as unofficial sources, along with statements from other news outlets in this summary of what was available about this tragedy of the shooting and major hasan. given this it seems unlikely that this will be definitive or factual news. my sense is that the writes attempt to be fair, but given the patchiness of information it cannot be that. i particularly didn't like the limited reporting of the walter reed hospital work

i have always disliked watching tv news immediately interviewing family members and others close to traumatic and tragic incidents, feeling that it invades privacy and can be misleading; possibly it can be justified when the public needs to become aware of any, even if not verified, information
