2010 Sees Record Number of Deportations

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Wednesday that it has deported a total of 392,000 people during the 2010 fiscal year. About 35,910 were the product of the Secure Communities program. Of these, half came from California. Full Story »

Straight-ahead, factual reporting on the new record deportation numbers. The piece in the New York Times (see link) has more political context, but this report sticks to the numbers themselves, and it is brief and to the point.

(SFSU) This is one of the few articles that mentions minor offenses. It also doesn't quote any of the country's leaders which seem to be satisfied with these results. If anything, this article is trying to make it seem that this is bad news being caused by Secure Communities.
