This blog on the intrusion of the Christian right into the military and law enforcement feeds my paranoia and appeals to my prejudices but is far from a balanced discussion of an important issue.

Chris Hedges believes that radical Christianist elements within the military and in American police departments, along with paid extra-military elements (mercenaries) now fighting in Iraq constitute a grave threat to democracy. The story is well-supported with facts and quotations. Hedges, the former Middle East Bureau Chief for the NY Times, believes we are on the brink of fascism in the US. The evidence he presents is compelling.

Not only is this story good and well written, the comments of the people of the original article are more in depth than Hedges' own article. While reading this article this what I call the "Corporate Jesus"fanatics came to mind. Corporate Jesus people are holding all Jesus' money in a trust fund till he returns and they can give it all back to him so he won't have to be a beggar and homeless when he returns.
