This report provides insight into both local and national implications of the negotiations at hand in Washington D.C. between reformer Michelle Rhee and AFT Union President Randi Weingarten. This appears to be one of the areas Obama may have been talking about when he said that change isn't going to be easy, and will require sacrifice from everyone. Perhaps this is one of the first major tests of the potential for real change in a system obviously in need.

An interesting piece about a possible labor war in DC between the teachers and the chancellor. One problem for the article is that the union's proposed contract hasn't been released yet, and the chancellor's desires aren't concrete, so the article deals with speculation and generalities - background information.

While there isn't much new information, this story puts together what seems to be all relevant information that could impact the teacher's contract fight in DC. The Post succeeds in summarizing a complicated issue - it doesn't oversimplify, but it makes the facts accessible and understandable.

The story makes one of the parties out to be the villain, which makes the story seem more unbalanced.

I don't know if it is supposed to be news or not, but this felt more like an editorial that bashed those involved.
