...another well written, thoughtful opinion piece by Paul Krugman, this time dealing with the lack of vision by local government and the general short-sightedness of the nation regarding infrastructure.

Unfortunately, at this time you could probably rally more people to go to Mars than to support public work projects for their own benefit.

I wish he could say something optimistic too. But, until he can, Krugman continues to be America's Cassandra. And, like the original, it seems nobody is willing to listen to him either.

Well reasoned and well written column about the short sightedness of election politicians. What is disturbing is that they are pandering to the electorate, meaning the American people have an extraordinary lack of vision and apparently a non-existent memory.

The need for this tunnel should be quite obvious to anyone who has ever tried to get from New Jersey to New York during the morning commute. When, after the Clinton decade, we began to pay off our debt and had a budget surplus, I fully expected the US would begin a major investment in infrastructure, as I had seen in many other countries around the world.
