These days, the need is apparently growing in the continental United States, where a steadily increasing number of churches and religious groups are ordaining ''financial missionaries'' and ''stewardship pastors,'' whose job is not the spreading of gospel. Interesting niche piece on religious institutions helping people manage personal finance in the recession, which revolves around such "financial missionary." A largely local piece, this is strongest in its anecdotal evidence.

A great premise for an article, this piece is more of a profile of Minister Cross than an exploration of how religious institutions can help teach people financial responsibility.

An admiral article that has things that both Christian and non-believer's should take into account.With mail-boxes jam full of credit card offers, it's hard not to try and live on plastic.

Mt. Cross sounds like a therapist and Priest, and that's really what they do anyway. Be it money, stealing, drugs, etc. He turned his life around ... More »

This is a quality journalism. It's engaging, well written, interesting, informative and topical. It'a a feature story and enterprise because it plays off current news. It presents practical information, especially useful for those who espouse a spiritual or, in this case, religious perspective on life.

I don't walk around being spiritual or religious. But, as they say, there are no athiests in a foxhole.
